Parkside Homes strives to design the dining experience based on feedback from the residents we serve. Our menus are created based on input from residents through surveys, resident meetings and word of mouth. We are always looking for creative ways to include the residents in this process. Our Dining Services Director, Rob Scott and Life Enrichment Coordinator, Penni Funk worked with Sysco to schedule a business review at Sysco’s Culinary Kitchen in Wichita; Sysco is our primary food supplier. Instead of taking the dining services team, they decided to take a panel of six residents to sample several different menu items. The menu items included: new vegetable blends, Roasted Pork Loin with Sundried
Tomato Sauce, Whole Grain Mustard
Chicken, Greek Steak Salad, Pulled Pork Sliders, Shrimp Baja Street Tacos, Fried Biscuit and Cream and a Brookie. To hear the feedback from the residents about their experience was rewarding.
Following our culinary tasting at Sysco, we stopped by the Nifty Nut House, a first time experience for many on our outing. The residents enjoyed sampling the many treats that were available and taking photos at the photo prop.
